POSITION:         TRAINING/TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE (TA) COORDINATOR

REPORTS TO:      EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:   The Training/TA Coordinator is responsible for the effective delivery of St. Louis for Kids’ training and technical assistance services.  The Coordinator also provides direct technical assistance as needed to school-age programs for the purpose of meeting quality standards, licensing requirements, accreditation, program development/expansion and/or implementation of best practices.  The Training/TA Coordinator must be knowledgeable of operations and programming of non-school hour/afterschool programs.  Familiarity with quality standards, licensing requirements, accreditation standards and best practice programs is highly desirable.  In addition, s/he must demonstrate the ability to manage projects, lead and work effectively with committees, deliver trainings to adult learners and be knowledgeable of non-school hour/afterschool staff development subjects.  A thorough knowledge of the region’s various communities and youth service providers is also very important.
 
EXAMPLES OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Coordinates the St. Louis for Kids Technical Assistance and Training services provided to local non-school hour programs.

• Serves as lead staff and coordinator of SL4K’s Afterschool Quality Initiative.

• Provides direct supervision of contracted training or technical assistance consultants.

• Assesses provider needs and develops training and technical assistance plans that address their needs.

• Based on the program’s quality improvement plan, deliver targeted technical assistance and on-site coaching that supports their achievement.

• Markets, recruits and coordinates registrations of participants for training programs offered.

• Provides training on effective, culturally relevant and developmentally appropriate topics to improve the competencies of youth workers.

• Researches and promotes best practices and disseminates to providers.

• Participates actively on the St. Louis for Kids Management team.

• Creates, collects and maintains service delivery data and prepares reports in accordance with needs of funders/contractors and internal systems of SL4K.

• Continues to develop his/her own skills and expertise by attending courses or professional development training as appropriate.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:  Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in the education or youth services field (i.e., elementary education, secondary education, social work, counseling, health, recreation).  Masters degree preferred.

Experience:  A minimum 3 years professional or management experience with non-school hour youth programs.  Demonstrated experience in adult learning, training/education, project planning, evaluation and assessment, public relations or other pertinent areas.

Skills/Abilities: 

• Strong leadership ability—a self-starter with excellent organizational skills.
• Supervisory and project management skills.
• Familiarity with (or the ability to quickly become knowledgeable of) metro St. Louis area including providers, systems, businesses, governments and community dynamics. 
• Able to engage and facilitate small groups in work groups/training.
• Knowledge of afterschool program design, quality standards, licensing/accreditation requirements and best practice programs.
• Knowledgeable about afterschool staff development subjects. 
• Culturally competent and able to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
• Ability to be neutral and demonstrate commitment to collaboration and teamwork.
• Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
• Solid computer skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Internet research

Other: Candidates must have access to a vehicle and/or have the means to travel extensively throughout the region.  Candidates must be autonomously mobile in accessing a variety of different neighborhood-based facilities where meetings and programs are held.

LIFT After School Program
MBCH-PDI and the Pattonville School District

LIFT is an after school academic enrichment program made available through a 21st Century Community Learning Center grant recently awarded to the MBCH Professional Development Institute, an affiliate of the Missouri Baptist Children’s Home. This program will commence on November 1, 2011, at the following Pattonville District schools:

We are NOW HIRING for the following positions:

1. Teachers:

• Job summary: will provide quality enrichment clubs and activities and provide homework help to students.
• Schedule: 1.5 hours Mondays through Thursdays from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM
• Requirements: current accreditation
• Pay: $22.50/hour

2. Tutors:

• Job Summary: Assistance with homework
• Schedule: 1.0 hour daily Mondays through Thursdays from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM
• Requirements: Current education students with a minimum of 60 earned credit hours, or school day staff
• Pay: $20.25/hour

3. Associates:

• Job Summary: Provide assistance with homework  help, enrichment clubs, activities, and recreation/fitness
• Schedule: 1.0 to 2.0 hours daily Mondays through Thursdays from 7:30 AM to  8:30 AM and/or 3:30 PM-5:30 PM
• Requirements: Must be at least 18 years of age with a high school degree
• Pay: $10.00/hour
